So today for dinner I had planned to cook up some chicken, kale and rice. Nothing exciting. I started my rice, pounded my chicken breasts to an even thickness, and then I decided to wash the kale.

I've never cooked kale before, but I figured it shouldn't be too different from chard or collard greens. Kale has really curly leaves, and the best description I can think of is like really really big parsley, curly parsley. I rinse the leaves and decide to devein them first before the second wash.
As I was cutting out the thick stem, I noticed something not green. I thought, oh, maybe it's a dead bug.. or, er... bugs, so I rinsed that leaf well before reaching for the next kale leaf.
Then I noticed the same anomaly in second leaf. So I open the leaf up and take a closer look. It was a cluster of what looked to me like little tomato seeds and insect wings.
I decide to inspect a couple of other leaves and find the same cluster of undesirable goodies.
Ugh. What is it? Do I really want to risk eating these little egg like and wing like things?
No.
So I ask the husband and the tot to head out to McDonald's. Surely McDonald's is safer. Can't wait for my milkshake.

Feed my bunnies Kale but I've never eaten it myself. Doesn't look too yummy. I'd go for shakes before chomping on kale. I'll have to look at my kale more carefully for bugs now.
