Chainwhip bought a new swanky grill. He researched and researched, we worked out a generous budget with the caveat that he'd grill at least once a week whenever possible.
Here's the grillmeister hard at work...

Our inaugural grill fest was on Memorial Day.
The discerning dumpling (scratching her head) and fellow taste testers...

and Sean making his opinion known...

Ok, so we really didn't take many food photos that first grilling session. We were too busy hosting and eating, but you can see a few more photos at my Memorial Day Flickr Set.
The swanky grill worked fabulously and so did the chef. AND the man has pretty much kept his word and has grilled just about every weekend. Thanks to brother Ben, we have photos of one dinner.
Steak and corn on the grill...

The spread...

The eating...

The dumpling is scratching her head again. Hmm. Maybe we should wash her hair more often.
And then we hosted a small Fourth of July party. After more than a month of grilling, Chainwhip got good. This time he added a smoke box with alder wood and mesquite wood chips which added a tremendous amount of flavor to the halibut.
Grub a dub dub...

Eating in style...

Of course a couple of little ones did not partake...
Mr. Happy with the lovely Grace...

and Jujube didn't even have to move a muscle to eat her dinner...

"Buffets ain't got nuttin' on this."

After eating it was time to play...
A little drumming...

A little theater...

A little drawing...

Some Settlers...

And Xiaozhuzhu found it appropriate to celebrate the 4th of July by reading Olivia Helps with Christmas. I have a totally awesome video of her reading, but apparently Flickr is having problems receiving many of my videos. Booo. I'll have to post it later.
In lieu of one cute toddler, here's a photo of a cute baby...

See more photos at the July 4th Set.
Overall, we're really happy with our shiny swanky grill. For Chainwhip, he enjoys the cooking, eating and ease of cleaning. For me, I enjoy not having to cook but still eating a homemade meal.
Sizzle it.

oooh nice! we also finally invested in a grill, but i did not think to make as smart of a deal as you. he just had to cook the food for july 4th :) I unlike chainwhip did no research whatsoever. i went to home depot and looked helpless and had 3 burly guys help me pick one out. what kind did you end up getting?
I think I have grill envy... :)
I am now very tempted to trade in my 10 year old grill (that has moved across the country and to 5 different homes) and pick out something new and shiny.
We got a Char-Broil Commercial Series with Quantum Infrared Grates .
And Jeremy... it sounds like you're due for a new grill ;) We'll come over to help you break it in.
ooh nice...we went char broil too. but one with less power since we are grill beginners.
