Spic-n-Span

I spent almost two hours in my basement yesterday folding the kids laundry. Why? Guilt. Guilt because upstairs there were three Brazilians cleaning my house.

We've been talking for months about hiring cleaners to clean the mucky muck that we never touch. I tidy and I sweep, but I don't mop (much) and I don't like doing bathrooms. Not that I don't know how; I still remember the day my mother taught me how to clean the bathroom. I remember scrubbing the sink, and I remember disliking the whole spic-n-span thing.

Anyway, cleaners are expensive. I think they are. I was finally pushed over the edge by my own mother who kept on telling me it was a good idea to hire people to help me keep my house. This was odd to me. My parents are frugal, and we've never had a soul come and clean our house. Remember I scrubbed the sink?

After going through a bit of potty training with Xiaozhuzhu and her toddler disregard for treading lightly around the toilet, I decided that maybe it'd be okay to spend some of our hard earned money for a little sanitation.

The three Brazilians arrived promptly and attacked the main floor. They spent a little longer in the master bedroom and bathroom, so Xiaolaoshu fell asleep in my arms, but I could've predicted that. Then they shooed us upstairs so they could clean the basement.

Our place is now so clean it's edible. I could eat the bathrooms. I could! They smell yummy. In fact they cleaned so well I thought maybe we only needed them once a quarter, but Chainwhip prefers twice a month, so we opted for a compromise - once a month.

Isn't it so patrician to have cleaners? Shouldn't I just bust my butt and clean my own house? That's the guilt I felt, and I couldn't sit around idly while three people cleaned my house, so I folded the laundry. It made me feel a little less like a lazy patrician bum.

Don't feel guilty about needing cleaning people to come help! If we could afford it, I'd have people come to help us out too! It would save time and energy...and a clean house provides a stress-free and relaxing environment for us.

Though it may seem costly, it's worth it! =)

gosh, i never get used to seeing grace's name as my own, or what used to be mine, anyway. :P ha ha.

anyway, it's awesome, isn't it? i consider myself a pretty neat/clean person and didn't think our house needed a cleaning person.. that is, until we had one come. and oh. my. gosh. i had no idea our house could be that clean... or rather, that our house was that filty. like you, we could've eaten off the bathroom floor. the only problem with this is that it's hard to go back to not having someone come and help clean after you've experienced it.

victor can tell you that the day our cleaning lady comes to our house, i'm giddy. after she leaves, i feel zen... that is, until our kids turn the place upside down again.
