The Second to the Last Date... Wann

At this time in my life, I have very little to write about that doesn't go into my dumplings blog. I do have a plethora of eating out photos from before the jump from family of three to four, so here is the second to the last date that Chainwhip and I took before the arrival of Xiaolaoshu. We visited Wann Japanese Izakaya in Seattle. As I understand it, an izakaya is an eaterie that you go to after work to drink, and Wann did have a very large bar. I was pregnant at the time so I didn't partake in the libations; instead, I had some genmai cha and we ordered an inordinate amount of food.

Unfortunately, we went to Wann so long ago that I don't remember the names of the dishes. I'll do my best with the ingredients though.

The man at the Wann...

Hubby at Wan

A very VERY good beef tongue dish. I really love been tongue.

Wan

Cold baby squid dish with a chiso leaf. It was very sweet... like literally sweet not the "schweet!" sweet.

Wan

Sticky rice dish that you have to order early and wait while it finishes cooking on your table. Very comfort food.

Wan

An impetuously ordered special of the day fish that was not so great and not so cheap.

Wan

Yummy eggplant and mushroom dish.

Wan

Soupy rice dish with green tea (I think). Chainwhip loves this dish, but I just thought it was ok.

Wan

My citrus sorbet. I don't remember what was in it, but it was good. And the sugar strands were fun at first but fussy in the end.

Wan

Chainwhip's sweet potato clafoutis. I didn't care for it much.

Wan

I liked Wann, and I'd definitely go back.

The soup was Ochazuke - and yes, I've had better but it was still good.

The squid were actually baby Octopi!

Ahh the freedom of having only one child... ;)

Jeffrey took me there for my last birthday. we thought it was good... jeffrey liked the smelt and I liked the sushi. We could've eaten more but it was pricey. We were wondering what that was in those pots...
